I just installed Active Directory and did not install it correctly.

I would like to remove it but I am getting this error;

"Active Directory Installation Failed"
The operation failed because:
Failed finding a suitable domain controller for the domain tserver.ftrvd.com
"The specfied domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."

There are no user accounts installed on this system nor is there any data to worry about -- brand new system.

The real reason I want to remove this AD is because I gave it a wrong domain name, but I would also like to know how to remove this problem.

Two questions.
Have you tried changing the pc to a workgroup before removing AD?
Have you tried using dcpromo?
----It has been a while since I have re-install AD but I seem to remeber being able to pull out of AD through dcpromo...

I have not down graded this server to a workgroup.

I did try dcpromo......the error message came from running dcpromo.

You need to make sure you choose the option this is the last server is my AD when you run dcpromo, otherwise, it tries to contact another dc to make sure that a DC will be available to serve clients
