Citrix Presentation Server - can't add connection licenses
Hi All
Sorry to be OT but no citrix area :(
Trying to learn citrix for a new job. Run it up on a win2003 server. My new employer's given me citrix eval stuff. I loaded the metraframe xp server ok it's FR3.
I did run a windows update.
I loaded and activated the licenses ok in the product tab. But this gives me no licenses in the connections tab.
I've got a connection license pack that came with the software generally in the form
E23ZN-25255-43DD3-25XXX
But when I try and enter those in the connection window it tells me it's not a valid license.
I have got TS running on the 2003 server in app mode but TS licensing isn't running.
I was wondering if this is because I've got no TSCALs and if so how to get around this.
Yes I could ring up my employer but asking dumb Qs before I get there when I'm on probation is not a good look. Time as always is the enemy - help much appreciated.

Thanx what90
I've already been there - it's a great site.
I tried a license from inside the pack and it told me it's already installed. Well maybe there's no problem. I then installed the ICA client 7 which came bundled on the 2003 server I'm using as a DC.
I made a custom ICA connection and tried connecting as it's DNS name from the dc to the citrix server:
bigtech.mel.ketech.com.au no joy won't connect. Wouldn't connect by IP address either. Server pings fine and I left the port on 80 when I installed.
Problem is when I click on my bigtech connection it hourglasses briefly then does nothing visible. Looks like my problem is TS. RDP to it times out too. I'll give it a kick and get back to u.

ausadmin,
You can still connect via TS even with citrix installed, as it's a background service.
Make sure you've installed the Ms TS license service under add/remove programs, otherwise it wouldn't work. TS will freak out and the event log should be full of errors/warnings if it can find the TS license server. Have a look and see what there.

Looks like I've got a combo problem. Pings are giving some timeouts. So I'll try a x-over from a different machine. Can't RDP currently so won't get any citrix.
But when I reboot it says MetaFrame XP 1.0 is installed but has no licenses. I got into CMC and they're there. I'm in as the domain admin everywhere do I have to do anything with regkeys.

You were right What90 it was all licensing -thanks - prob was the eval was for XPS and I'd installed as XPE - groan!!!
You need to have Windows TS working first. Uninstall Citrix and get Ts working first. Windows 2003 TS has a 120 day temp licence, so all you have to do is install TS licence server and then set TS up in Application mode. Test you can conect to it and then install Citrix.
Below is a good site for citrix/TS things
