SMTP - How to Send a File Attachment - IBM Mainframe REXX

Hi,
I have a Rexx script which allows me to send Email via Sockets and SMTP,
currently I'm reading from my datasets and copying them into the body of the
email...

I'd like if possible to send my datasets as attachments instead...

can anyone tell me how to go about it?
(if found the main smtp info in RFC811?)

I believe i need to attach the file as a Mime script?
but can't find anything which seems to make sense on the subject!

I quite happy to convert the file data to a Sixel encoding format or anything else
its just i can't seem to find out any information about headers or whatever i need to
wrap the data in ?

please help..

Yes, MIME, or Multi-Purpose Internet Mail Extension, is the standard method for sending non-text data thru E-Mail.

The standards are in RFCs 2045 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2045.html), 2046 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2046.html) and 2047 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2047.html)
