Hi smphil,

1. Go to File>Export (Ctrl-E). If you're exporting only part of an Illustration, then select the part you want to export and in the Export dialog box check "Selected Only"

2. In the Export dialog box, under Save as Type select "GIF-Compuserve Bitmap" and give your file a name. Hit OK.

3. The next dialog box, Convert to Bitmap, allows you to verify the size of the GIF. It also lets you change the amount of colours in the index palette, and choose anti-aliasing or not. Do whatever changes you feel necessary there.

4. Hitting OK takes you to the next dialog box, Convert to Paletted. Here you can choose the type of palette you want and a dithering method and other options. Click the Preview button to see what the different options will produce. Hit OK when you're done there.

5. The next dialog box, GIF Export, is where you choose transparency. Hit the "Image Color" radio button. Next, put the cursor over the Left-side preview to move your image around until you see the colour you want to make transparent (usually the background, right?) Use the Eyedropper to select the colour to be transparent. Alternatively, you can choose the transparency colour from the scrollable palette you see on the right of the dialog box. If the Preview button is depressed you can see the transparency on the right-side Preview.

6. After you've selected your transparency colour, hit OK. CorelDraw will now save your GIF file.

Easy, huh?

Good Vibes!
