file server compress old files

Running out of disk space on a windows 2000 server box. Does anyone see any problems in using disk clean up to compress old files not used in years. I can save almost 9 gigs of hard drive space. I just wanted to make sure that I would not have problems later on by doing this.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Its not that I have never used this before its just I have never done it on a file server that 70 people depend on every single day. Just wanted to make sure that there is no potential problems by doing this.

Thanks

I guess caring about 70 people using you have regularly done backups of all the files and important data.
The removal of those files is by disk cleanup , an inbuilt tool in windows and not any third party tool.
I donot see anything to be worried abt here.
