How can I allow blank fields in a Dynamic form?

I currently have a record insertion form which connects to my MySQL database on a remote server.

The fields and columns are viewable in this insertion form. I have selected them to display mostly as text fields and also as menu items. So far so good.

During testing, I have noticed that if some of the fields in the form are left blank when the form is submitted - I am rediredted to a blank white page with the message Column '(column name)' cannot be null.

I wish to allow some columns to be blank. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

Adam

    Hi ayounis

This is not a problem with dreamweaver - this is a setting you must change in the MySQL database

When you create the table, defining NOT NULL will mean that the database will chuck an error if you try to put nothing in the field.

If you are using phpMyAdmin or something similar, you will see a drop-down box with "NULL" or "NOT NULL" as options (when creating or editing a table). Set this to "NULL" and it will allow NULL as a value (i.e. no value)

If you need specific help changing this property in your table, please give specific info about what system you are using.
