I have had a HP Jetdirect EX plus for years and need to get it setup with an IP etc.   I downloaded the software the software from HP will not discover it.

Forget what I have done, It is on my home network.  What must I do to get this to work?  Will this work with Ip or is it just too old for IP and current software.  The box is about 10 years old but still should do all I want for years to come ( I have tried on different times to get this working in the past but did not have your folks to lean on before ).

The box supports IP-printing. You can take several routes to achieve your goal.

One way is to reset the box to default settings by pressing test button while powering up, then print the settings by pressing test button. Set a PC to work in the same subnet as the box, telnet to it and change the address to the subnet you like it to be.

Another is to use HP's INPW (HP Install Network Printer Wizard) - to be found at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locBasepartNum=ja-7489-5&lang=English+%28US%29&locale=en_US

Let us know how this works for you.

Glad to hear that, Tim!

Which one of my suggestions did you choose, by the way?
Understanding Web Applications

Without even knowing it, most of us are using web applications on a daily basis. Gmail and Yahoo email, Twitter, Facebook, and eBay are used by most of us daily—and they are web applications. We often confuse these web applications tools for websites.  So, what is the difference?

Actually to be totally honest I by dumb luck was able to set it up using the direct jet software and when I came back to this you had the solution I had just performed and was 100% correct .

I can not telnet to the thing but that is just fine ( I use the software)

You did a great job and I thought I awarded the points last time.  Thanks again.
