image compression filters

I've heard that imageready in Photoshop is the best image compression program there is.

I am using PSP8. I am wondering if there are any filters/plug-ins out there that is as fast as Imageready.

Best and Fast in the same program is a hard call and if you have a nanosecond stopwatch you may want to look at accelerator hardware as part of a solution.
Everytime you save a jpeg you are using compression with loss of image quality. Tiff  format allows for lossless compression, if you are after better quality/larger files. The equation stands at how much quality you are willing to sacrifice for the sake of image size.
All that nattering aside try these...
