c0000135 winsrv was not found error after sp2 UN-install, pc won't boot

c0000135 winsrv was not found error after sp2 UN-install, pc won't boot.  windows xp home.  all MS KB docs refer to this problem as occurring after install of sp2.  after I uninstalled sp2 it said it was successful and to reboot.  getting blue screen with error even when i try to boot in safe mode.  thanks in advance for any help
