Is SP3 bad news for me?

It seems we have an expert consensus in the forum that the message "A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?" occurs with the installation of Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) and is basically unavoidable.  If you check that you wish to allow access, the choices for allowing access are as follows:
 1,2,5, or 10 minutes.

I understand the importance of this security patch to keep renegade software such as spyware from emailing all my contacts, but I have two major issues with it:

1. Whenever I sync my Palm Pilot (Kyocera 2035 - Palm Os V5) outlook prompts me.
2. Even more of a problem: I use "Ihatespam" as my spam filter program and every time Outlook checks for email and pulls it in, I hate spam checks my contact list causing the message to be displayed.

Do we have forum concensus that there is NO WAY to permanently allow access to a specific application? I'm looking for something like ZoneAlarm would have where you can check to remember the setting to "Always Allow" a specific application to access the net.

Just want to get it on record before I start recommending scrapping SP3.
