Information on Learning Web Languages

I know HTML fairly will, but I would like to know it better and
learn HTML and XHTML to advanced XML, XSL, CSS. I know some of the above, I have learn them with just hit and miss.

Can some one gave me some books that would start from
HTML and take me though XHTML to advanced XML, XSL, CSS.

I have some books on the above subject, but I have found that they are not ones that come down to the average reader and beginner. They start off fine but start refering to thing that a person haven't even study as yet. It  is like the author get bored and forgets that you haven't come to that part. yet.

I am not much of read and studing online, I would rather have the books and read them.

Thank you for you help.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Starview,

HTML & XHTML: The Complete Reference: This is by far the best reference for all you have mentioned above in my opinion ...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/007222942X/qid%3D1099060186/sr%3D1-10/ref%3Dsr%5F1%5F2%5F10/103-7311521-2055856

If you're finding the XML a little daunting as you work through The Complete reference, then the first link below seems to be a good recent book, though I used XML for the WWW (2nd link below), but this may be a little dated now:

XML: Weekend Crash course...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764547593/qid%3D1099060449/sr%3D1-20/ref%3Dsr%5F1%5F2%5F20/103-7311521-2055856

XML for the world wide web...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201710986/qid%3D1099061101/sr%3D1-2/ref%3Dsr%5F1%5F10%5F2/103-7311521-2055856

You never mentioned JavaScript in your question, but if you use CSS you will want to use JavaScript to modify it, and the following book will help you to do that...

DHTML and CSS for the world wide web
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0321199588/qid=1099060639/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_11_7/202-6227989-8784606

Digest this lot and you'll be a guru in no time :)

Hope this helps

Cheers,
Steve
