People,

      I have a Oracle 8i Parallel Server instance and I need to resize the redo logs.
Can I just follow the procedure for a standard instance (drop and re-create) on each node or there are other things i need to keep in mind. note I currently have two, so I need to add at least one more, on each node.

I was thinking that
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 5 ('/dev/<raw device>') SIZE 16M;
ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOG FILE;
ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE GROUP 1;
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 ('/dev/<raw device>') SIZE 16M;
ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE GROUP3;
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 3 ('/dev/<raw device>') SIZE 16M;

likewise on node 2:
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 6 ('/dev/<raw device>') SIZE 16M;
ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOG FILE;
ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE GROUP 2;
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 2 ('/dev/<raw device>') SIZE 16M;
ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE GROUP 4;
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 4 ('/dev/<raw device>') SIZE 16M;

Thanks
Kenneth

    Yep, shouldnt be a problem - each instance will have its own thread of redo logs so they are separate.
    Personally I would add all the new groups in one go, and then switch into them before dropping the old ones, but thats just me!
