Front page freezes as soon as it opens

Could somebody please help with this small problem...
Using FrontPage 2000 on Windows 98 running IE6.  In the past when opening FrontPage the first page that opens is the web I was previously working on, however now when I open it I am presented with a new page with no associated web.  Also as soon as it opens every function freezes (nothing works with the cursor or with keyboard shortcuts - the only way of closing down is ctrl+alt+del).  This problem happens regardless of whether I'm online or off line.  I've tried re-installing the original software but the problem still happens, I've run various adware/virus checks and found nothing.
Any ideas?

Try installing the original software on a different directoy.

When you install the program do not accept the default folder,  just change it ti any name that you like.

Before reinstalling.

In your computer
1- Start
2- Find files or folders
3- Search for the file CmdUI.prf
5- If you find it just delete it and restart the computer

If this does not work,  reinstall the program.

Hi,

Note: You might find the fild CmdUI.prf in many places, delete it where you find it.  Restart your PC after deleting the file.

If deleting the file did not work,  just uninstall FP,  and before re-intsalling remove it from the regiestry.

If all above and re-installing did not work,  install FP2002 which will solve the problem 100% and frontpage will work.

Sorry,  but,  I searched my books,  MS office,  the net for your problem,  but what I found was little and nothing solved the problem except installing FP2002.

Anyway try in the following sequence:

1- Find and delete CmdUI.prf,  then restart the computer and then run Frontpage
2- Uninstall,  remove from registry,  reboot,  reinstall
3- Uninstall,  reinstall FP2002

Wish you a good luck

1. I've already deleted CmdUI.prf without benefit
2. I have a 3 section partitioned drive with FP currently in C.   If I reinstall into D or E should I delete it from C first?

No need to change the drive.

Just a different folder.

If you get for example the default directory c:\Program Files\Office\FP2000,  change it to C:\Program Files\Office\Frntpg

no need to change the drive.

Does Frontpage hang when it tries to open the index page of the previously opened website?

If yes.

Is your index page very big? Does it go beyond 32,768 lines which is the limit for FP2000 file?
