We are running a Cisco PIX 515 at our corporate office with a DLink 808HV at our remote office. We have a IPsec VPN successfully established - both locations see each other, can ping each other, use network resources, etc., but when the remote location logs in the group policy from the dc at corporate does not apply and we get :
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1054
Time: 3:41:15 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
However the logon script does run. I have verified that the DNS at the remote location points to the dc at corporate. When we bring the PC from the remote to corporate the group policy applies successfully. I've tried setting slow link in th gp to 500 and to 0 - neither made a difference. When I run gpresult on the remote PC, it says the last policy applied was a local group policy. I assume this is a firewall / port issue, but DLink won't help. How do I fix this?
