    Are you up to date with patching from the microsoft website...???
    SP4 needed..
    Plz check event viewer and post anu relevant error here from the client and from the machine you are trying to connect to..
    Make all services taht are required by this servcie are running

    Start --> Run --> services.msc  hit enter..
    Check that the RPC servcie is running and also dependecies services too..
    What are you using to connect...??
    Do you have firewall???  This could be blocking the ports..
    When was the last time u connected successfully...???
    What has changed since...???

    in task manager check the box that says show processes from all users.  do you see any strange .exe processes using a lot of memory? specifically, do you see avirun.exe being used?
