Where do I get ODBC for NDS. I want to export a USER list.

I have a Novell 5.2 network.  From reading on the internet there is an ODBC driver that I can download so I can create Crystal Reports  from my Novell NDS.  But the Novell download page the articles reference no longer exists.

I need to extract from my NDS a list of my users with some descriptive information, name, address, etc.

I am not aware of any other way to export this list, as Novell's Network Administrator doesn't seem to support any type of export.

Anyone know where I can find that ODBC driver or know of another way to export a list of users from NDS.

"Novell" is a company. "NetWare" is a product. You have a "NetWare network".

There is no NetWare v5.2. v5.1 is the latest (and probably last) in that v5.x line. The current version is v6.5. NetWare v7.0, aka Open Enterprise Server, is due out in the next 90-120 days.

As for what you want, this is easily found on the Novell Developer website (http://developer.novell.com). Specifically, look at http://developer.novell.com/ndk/odbcrw.htm

Note that this is for eDirectory, NOT NDS. If you have NetWare v5.x, then you could have either one. You need to be sure you are running eDirectory. The download for the ODBC driver includes samples for Crystal Reports specifically.

If you have NDS and not eDirectory, and you do not (for whatever reason) want to upgrade, also look at JRB Utilities (http://www.jrbsoftware.com). This is a commercial set of utilities that give you a wide array of tools for manipulating the NetWare/NDS/eDirectory environment. Specifically, you'd probably be interested in the GETNAME utility. These can be accessed from the command-line, a GUI or programmatically.

Typo.  Yes I have Novell 5.1 not 5.2

And I do not have eDirectory, so I will look into the link to jrbsoftware.

    Thanks for your advise.

You're right that the NetWare Administrator doesn't support the type of extract you want. That's because NetWare Administrator is an outdated tool that is no longer supported and has not had a lot of newer functionality added to it. ConsoleOne, NetWare Administrator's replacement, DOES have Import/Export capability. ConsoleOne is available in the NetWare v5.1 environment, so I'm not sure why you continue to run NetWare Administrator (unless you've got some functionality that is only manageable thru NWADMIN - some older printing stuff is like this).
