Installing ettercap
Hi all,
I'm tring to install ettercap on a RedHat 9.0 machine. ettercap need many updated versions of the library, e.g
gtk+-2.4.13
pango-1.4.1
atk-1.6.1
glib-2.4.7
However, my GNOME and many many applications actually rely on some of the older libraries. My question is how is the best way to do this?

Those libraries seems optional as mention on the website..., however the problem is "./configure" for ettercap stops after complaining gtk+

Those updated version of libraries are required only by the gtk+ GUI for ettercap.
You can choose not to install gtk+ GUI when you setup ettercap.
The following URL say those library is optional:
http://ettercap.sourceforge.net/
It is big impact to update the glib. If you have critical applicationa on that RedHat 9 box which rely on
the old(compatible) libraries, then it's better not update them (version 2.4.x and 2.3.x have a lot of compatibility
issue).
My suggestion is either don't install gtk+ GUI or install ettercap on a Fedora Core 2 box.

Wesly
