OUTLOOK - A corrupt email I cannot delete. URGENT

When I try to delete an email from an outlook account I get this error:

OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in

I tryed searching in google and the only result I came up with was to re-install outlook. I tryed and I still cannot delete it. I have installed outlook 97 and outlook 2000 and there is no difference. The funny thing is another person received this email fine but it just doesnt open on this computer. Both are running windows 95 and have outlook 2000 installed. The email also contains some attachments and are virus free on the machine it worked on.

Any ideas how I can get this email deleted? There has to be some special way. or can outlook "repair" the outlook.pst file for errors? Any help would be appreciaetd. This is fairly urgent i get it fixed

Hi georgecooldude,

Try doing this to see if you can repair that PST

 Repair PST : http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm

can you drag and drop the email to deleted items folder ?

what kind of account you have POP3 or IMAP or exchange ?

can you create a new outlook profile and then import this PST and then check how it goes

make sure to update both outlook and windows

SR..

Hi sunray,

Thanks for the link. I will check it out.

We have a pop3 exchange running and I think it runs "mdaemon".

I have a test windows 2000 machine so I will try on that one.

I've copyed over the outlook.pst file to my computer.

Can I run the scanner against it without having to setup a whole new Outlook Account?

Is there a freeware edition of this? Or have microsoft released a copy?

I've not got a budget to spend of any new software.

Scanned it and no viruses. I cannot see a download link to the "repair" tool. I need a fully working edition.

try these
a) Download Stinger from here : http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/  and run it.

b) Use this Online virus scanner also : http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

I've checked with Sophos and its not reporting a virus. Its up to date. Also another person who had acopy of the email it worked fine for her. So I dont think its a virus. I think it is corrupt some how..

Maybe there is a way to repair the outlook file/look for errors. Do microsoft offer any sort of repair tool?

I came accross the built in microsfot "scanpst.exe" tool for scanning outlook files.

It scanned my inbox section but reported no errors.

The user moved the file to their deleted folder so It didnt scan there. That is the directory I need to scan. This is really puzzling me now. Strange as it may sounds. A email in the delete folder that cannot be deleted.

what happens if you go to that deleted items folder and manually pressing delete on ur keyboard or right-click that email and delete.

try going into outlook in safe mode
start > run > outlook.exe /safe and see if you can remove that way

I've tryed deleteing the file many ways. Via the delete key. Dragging to trash bin, etc every way. Each time it till give me that random error post in my first post above "OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in.... "

I will try the safe mode option and get back to you.

ah, just noticed we posted at the same time.

"2. Try deleting the item using OWA.
3. Use the MDBVU32 utility."

What are those two options?

Are Autopreview and your Preview Pane turned off?  If not, turn them off, and then try to delete the messages.
