Terminal Services issue with licensing

Currently we have a client that uses Terminal Services on a W2K server, he has 10 CAL's for it.

What is happening is he is now getting expired licensing for those CAL's also they are not freeing up when he logs off a workstation. Result is he is used up all his CAL's when he has not.

Any advice on this problem?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There is a hotfix that must be applied to the TS licensing box before the licenses are issued; otherwise they will not get released properly. We had the same problem, applied the patch, called Microsoft, and they 'reset' the license. It showed that there were 20 cals, but only 10 would be released for re-use. It still takes 3 months to have them available for re-use, so you may want to recommend they purchase extra CAL's, but a 30 minute call to Microsoft will give you 10 right away.
