How to set cursor style to "BRIEF cursor shape" in a TMemo Component

In Delphi's IDE , open the menu "Tool - Editor Options..." , click the "Display" Tab page , and there is checkbox named "BRIEF cursor shapes" , if you checked it , and click ok to back to IDE . Now , you will find your cursor in Code Editor Memo has change to "BRIEF cursor shapes" . So I want to know how to reach it .

This may be a feature of the IDE only.
The question to answer is:
Is it possible to translate cursor position in character position for a TMemo?
If so then the Brief cursor shapes are possible. It would need a WM_MOUSEMOVE handler.

Thank robert marquard.

Why need a WM_MOUSEMOVE handler , I mean I want to change the KEYBOARD INPUT CURSOR 's shape , not MOUSE CURSOR's shape.

And you said :"This may be a feature of the IDE only." , even so , I think it could be done in my own program.

Sorry, but that element is named caret not cursor. That should be possible.
