outlook express mail dissapears upon folder drag/drop

I'm running outllok express 6.00.2800.1123 on WINXP PRO, I synch my hotmail account with express. Many times when I try to transfer mail from my bulk mail folder to other local folders I get a error box "unknown erroe has occured" details read "Configuration:
   Account: Hotmail
   Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
   User name: yianniz@hotmail.com
   Protocol: HTTPMail
   Port: 0
   Secure(SSL): 0
   Code: 80004005"
and all the mail, even emails that I was not transferring just dissapear leaving the bulk mail folder empty. Although the indicated emails do get transferred the ones that were not to be transferred are gone... and they are not even in the deleted items folder.  I've written to MS about this with no avail.

There could be some kind of interference by any other account that you might have setup in OE. Have you got any other account other than hotmail and if yes, try to delete that account and see if you still have issues ?

Also create  a new identity in OE and check your hotmial account there
