Socks5: MySQL user authentication and logging

Hi there,

I've been looking for a Socks5 proxy that supports MySQL authentication and logging.  So far my search has turned up nothing but more admins looking for the same thing.  Perhaps my search criteria has been off track.  I have well over 500 users and I would like to have a central user database and in the future be able to scale my proxy cluster without having to sync passwd files etc.

Does anyone know of a Socks5 that supports MySQL or a patch for one ?

Also along the same lines, would you believe that MySQL authentication would have an impact on the time authentication takes?

Regards,

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Dante can use PAM. There are, as you might know, PAM modules for MySQL. 1+1=2...

Good luck..
