VMWare ESX user management

How can we give an user rights to login to the web based management console and the remote console. We've tried to give read and execute rights to the virtual configuration file but the user can login but no virtual machine is visuable.

Remote console gives the message the configuration file doesn't exist? With the root account everything works fine.

give the user fullcontol permissions and check if it works then problem lies in the permissions alloted to the user........check for any stick bits or the user belongs to any other restricted group..........

Does the user have access to the path elements all the way to the configuration file? (That bites me a lot, someone gives me access to a directory without giving me execute right to some directory in the parent path.

If the user account has a shell window open can they see the configuration file?  Can they edit it?

If the answers are no, then you have a permission problem to get past.

If the answer is yes, then some other file is involved in the setup and you need someone that knows more than me.

Best of luck!  good hunting
