Set Location without being in the designer

When a database location changes, but the database table and field names stay the same it's possible to use the Set Location in Crystal reports to remap from the old database to the new one. Is it possible however to change this without doing it through the Crystal Reports Designer? Also I'm not actually displaying the report in a custom application, it's a 3rd party app that displays them. Is there some way to pass a parameter or something? Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. It is possible to do this from an application but the application has to be written with this in mind.  Your thir party tool may be able to do this for you.

there are two ways according to what you have.

if you have crystal reports then you can go to set location
2. Create new connection
3. Select the new db and corresponding table
4. Click the old table
5. Click Update
This is the easiest way.
Or you can do all this dynamically by writing a small application. If you go to this route then you have to decide the language that app will be written, version for crystal, object model that should be used for crystal These have to be answered before you start your app.
