Developing Office Add-ins in Delphi (particularly for MS Access)

hi there

I am interested in developing an add in for MS Office, particularly for Excel. I am aware of "Add-in Express" from Afalina (also www.add-in-express.com), but I want to get some technical detail and do it myself.

Obviously a COM object is required, but I can't seem to get technical details or any non-commercial Delphi implementation.

There is some VB discussion "Building a COM Add-in for Microsoft Office XP Using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0"  http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnoxpta/html/odc_comaddinvb6.asp

Is that the best I can get?

Roughly speaking I want the add-in to insert some data into a current field based on another field and I would like to do it the COM way using say IDTExtensibility2

Anyone been there/done that? Has some ideas or pointers or advice ?

thanks

I found
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Delphi/Q_10242314.html
but this does not do much except display a message. How do I then get into the guts of the database, and make it (the add in) DO something?

Comment - watching

I am interested in this also for add ins for VB. I have just taken a look at the Afalina which looks good - but VB is not mentioned -  I have E-Mailed Afalina - and will post any reply.

I have Afalina Flat controls which are very good and have been trouble free.
