Qutlook Express

Our company just changed hosting companies and now my boss can't access his IMAP email from home using Outlook Express.   He can access it from work, a coffeshop, several different places but just not home.  Anybody ever heard of this?

It worked fine from everywhere before we changed companies.

Jay,

What happens after the account is setup in OE ?

Does he get any error message while sending and receiving email ?

Is OE in his home fully updated ?

Ask him to temporarily disable firewall and Anti-virus and then check Outlook express to see what happens ?

Give us more details on what is happening ?

As I had asked in my first comment what is the error message he is getting when he sends the email ?
i'll find out
from outlook express:
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'review for jason', Account: 'tweller@modelithics.com', Server: 'mail.modelithics.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 26, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0B

from outlook:

Task 'www.modelithics.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC65) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).  The server responded: 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA'

Just a question, is the broadband provider a cheap one or perhaps pay as you go ?

The reason I ask is that I've seen a similar thing on a pay as you go broadband where the ISP blocked the email ports unless you 'upgraded' to the email option.

Just a thought

Dave
No he uses Verizon DSL I believe, it is definatly a reputable company as there are only a few providers in this area
have you checked/tried all the suggestions in my previous comment ?
Done that all, I sent him screen shots of my settings and everything jsut to idiot proff it for him.
can you ask him to create a new identity in his OE and check in that ?

Also ask him to do this
open OE
go tools > accounts > double-click on the account
go to advanced
and check "outgoing server requires authentication" and check what happens
Already did when I sent him the screenshots, waiting for reply
I had him do all that but nothing worked, I doubled check his settings yesterday myself while he was in the office, changed NOTHING, he went home and itworked...So, I still don't know WHY but it does work now.
