AD and DNS

I just promoted my Server to a DC. When i ran dcpromo i forgot to choose the option to let dcpromo install and setup dns for me. I installed DNS seperately. How can I prepare the DNS to work with AD?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There's not too much to do. Let your DC point to itself only for DNS resolution, let all of your domain members point to the DC only as well.
On your DNS server, create a reverse lookup zone, and make sure that dynamic updates are enabled for all your internal zones.
If present, delete the root zone (".") in your forward lookup zones, and configure forwarders to point to your ISP's DNS servers for external name resolution.
In addition, you might want to change your AD zones to be AD integrated.
Once you've configured this, open a command prompt and enter "ipconfig /registerdns", then stop and re-start the netlogon service. Check if the host entry for your DC has been created, and SRV records have been created (see link below).
