Making a field hidden...

Mr. Newbie here again. I just want to make a field hidden. I am running a script that looks at who created the record and I want to display the records that that user has inputed. I just don't want to show that field. When I take the field out the script doesn't work but when it is in it works fine. I don't know if this matters much, but I am running FM 7 Server and using the Custom Web Publishing.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Some script steps don't work if the field isn't on the current layout. Sometimes you can rewrite the script so you don't have to do this, but it's not always worth the trouble.

I usually just make the field very small and hide it underneath another field or other layout object. You can also hide the field by making it the same color as the background.

You only need a field to be present in a layout if the script needs to insert, copy/paste, search.
Use 'define field' to overcome the problem.
If you can't, my trick is to use a white field/white text, with entry disabled, and outside the screen top left 1024*768, where they hardly scroll.
Okey dokey
