export msn mail to outlook / oe

Working with Windows ME and OE v6.00.2800.1123  The |import |messages| window does not list hotmail or msn mail as an option.  maybe i need to update the msn client, or use outlook 2000?

I am trying to move all (1200) emails from a clients msn (v8.50.0017.1202) inbox, "folders on my computer" and since these emails are not stored on msn's server, i don't know how to import them to oe.
It looks like MSN stores its emails in: [c:\windows\application data\microsoft\msn\db\user-msn-com.sdf]     this is a 40mb file and i've found nothing that can parse it (except for msn).

If anyone knows how to export these emails or parse the sdf file to convert to an oe account, please let me know.

You can just set up OE to go to your msn account and make sure you check the option that saves your emails to the server, so that if you have to re format it does not delete all of your emails.

Try using MSN Instant Messenger as your contact management tool for this import and export project.

Messenger contacts appear in the Hotmail address book for the same account (though not all Hotmail contacts will appear in Messenger - only those whom you've added to your Messenger contacts). Messenger includes both import and export functions for the contact list. Just log in to Messenger using one account, hit the Contacts menu, Save Contact List and save to a file. Then login to Messenger with a different account, hit Contacts, Import Contacts from a Saved File, load up the file and you're done.

Here's a sloppy workaround...............

You will need to download and install MSN Premium.  (I believe it still comes with a 30 day free trial.) The base cost is $6.95 a month if the free trial is not there, but if you're in a jam it's probally worth it.

You will also have to move or copy the entire local message store back to the MSN servers. (I know I can drag them back and forth from the local folders to the servers within the MSN Mail interface, but I have MSN9 with the Outlook Connector installed.)

When installing the Outlook Connector, you can then attach Outlook to the MSN (or Hotmail) account.

Now you simply move the messages from the OC folders within Outlook to the normal .pst file and export them from there if you choose.

All,

Thank you for your replys.  I have given up on the proper offline ex/import.  I'll just do this job brute force, move the local inbox to an online-only MSN email folder and pull all the emails from there into OE.  What a pain.
As far as assigning points, i donno? can i split them evenly to those who replyed?
