Here's a basic tutorial for setting up websites on Win2k/IIS5 - www.simongibson.com/intranet/iis5/.

In addition to having a functioning and properly configured web server, you will need some kind of DNS service to resolve domain names to your IP address.  You can configure your own DNS server using IIS if you wish (for details, see www.simongibson.com/intranet/dns2003/).  Alternatively, you can use a third party DNS service like www.zoneedit.com or www.dyndns.com.  Some domain registrars (like www.godaddy.com) also offer DNS service.

If you are using a router or firewall, you will also have to make sure that appropriate incoming internet traffic is routed to your server.  These include port 80 for http traffic, port 443 for http over SSL, port 53 if you are going to run your own DNS server, port 21 for FTP traffic, port 25 & 110 if you want to run a mail server, etc.

You can see a good overview of the different required elements at www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_index.html?/main/quick-start.html.  Some of this info will be old news to you, so skip the parts that you already know.
