how to rotate a .mov 90 degrees with a free program on windows xp

I need to rotate a few .movs 90 degrees. I'm on windows xp. What's the easiest way to do that? I'd prefer no trial versions of programs, but if nothing else is available that's acceptable.

What you want is a very complicated operation, that implies recoding of all the movie. I'm afraid there are no free programs to do that.
ok it can be done for free ..

first you need to convert the movs to avi format. there is a good guide to do this at:

once you have the file in avi format, you load movie maker in windows xp. (should be in start>programs>accessories> menu or alternatively it will be in your program files>movie maker directory)

Once loaded, import the video and then drag it on to the timeline at the bottom. Right click on the video in the timeline and select video effects. one of the options is to rotate the video 90 degrees.
...but the result of what razorshine recommend is not a mov file. You'll need a tool to onvert back to mov, if this is what you want.

if the result must be a mov file than the easiest way to do this would be to purchase quicktime pro from:

as you can see bottom left of the screen you can rotate clips just fine. Its $29.99.
i second razor's motion.
qt pro will do it

If you have a nividia graphics card the software/drivers that come with it should be able to rotate your screen 90º.

Right-click on nividia settings at the taskbar -> Rotation Settings. This gives you a list of angles you can rotate your screen.

On the other hand you could just physically rotate your screen 90º :P.
