How do i install debian linux on my intel pentimum 2 machine

Hi,

1)make sure that you bios allow you to boot from cd.
2) if yes change boot sequence to boot from cd first - also try somewhere else if your cd is bootable
3) if not boot from win98 boot floppy with cd-rom support
4) go to folder install on cdrom and run boot.bat

BTW : what version of debian do you have? woody or sarge?

those are very easy steps, I just do not know what exactly you got stuck. Can your bios boot from cd or not?

no cant boot from CD

ok so what you need to do is :

1) create win98 system disk ( it can be anything else wchich alows you to boot to DOS with cdrom support)
2) detremine what is your cd-rom drive( I assume that it is E:
3) then issue comands:
e:
cd install
boot
this launch kernel to memory and starts instalation.

Remeber that debian istalation is one of the hardest among all distros. I require base knowledge about partitoning and hardware fundamentals.

try those steps above if you got stuck somewhere let me know.
