I keep getting this error whenever i try to run a backup a tape drive.

microsoft sql-dmo (ODBC SQLState: 42000)
The media family on device 'TapeDrive' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this medial family.  BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Does anyone know what this means?
