Crystal Reports Weblogic Workshop

I would like to use Crystal Reports with Weblogic Workshop.  My requirements include ad-hoc querying and canned reports.  Can the JRC SDK satisfy these requirements alone or do I have to use it with the RAS?  In your opinion, what do you think of the SDK's robustness and ease of use?  Also, is the JRC SDK just a downloadable jar file or do I have to download say, the Enteprise Edition of CR?

    Accepted Solution

the jrc is just a couple of .jar files and a few .xml files. no need to installed / download ce for this.

however, the jrc is pretty simple and can't do much. even changing the database at runtime through code is impossible. hence I am steering clear of it, although i am very interested in java.

i'd go for ce embedded (used to be called ce ras), which has far more functionality and is scalable.
