Change IE print settings for Number of Copies

Hi,

Is it possible to change the "Number of Copies" in IE print settings using Javascript or C#?

If yes, can someone give me an example or a link to refer to.

     Thanks,

No.  However you can use activeX.  See if this can do it for you:

However I only recommend the use of activex on intranet, it is too much aof a security risk on the Internet and may user will not permit it to be loaded or will be using a platform that does not support it.

Hi Cd,

Thanks for the link. I saw the link earlier. I want to use some free tool for this. I dont want to pay $350 just to change the Number of Copies setting in IE print window, that does not make any sense.

Do you know of any free activex object or any other tool for doing this?

    Thanks,
    Payal

I think the reason they can charge so much is that they don't have any competition.  I'm not an expert in IE specific stuff like that but I assume it must be difficult code to develop if there are no free knockoffs around.

I'd be surprise if this could be done, because the "print" interface resides at local control points.  Imagine the havoc if end-user settings could be overwritten by a script to start printing X # of copies to network or local printers without local controls.  I guess I'd ask if this is a local network you're trying to gain some specific control over or intranet?  The various IE options from the File - Print or Print Preview or Page Setup all reside within the local controls; and if print only is issued without interaction, uses the default printer and printer defaults.

I find no such tools nor options; but this may be of interest to you for intranet options printing and IE in some environments to at least get you a way to pursue.

Well, if you're on the Intranet and have the authority to customized IE rollouts for your organization, you might want to explore your options in the IEAK package.

Thank you guys for helping me. I couldnt find any free tools. IEAK package astaec suggested is too much work for modifying Number of Copies entries. Though I havent had a look at it, may in future I will look and see what all things it can do.

 Thanks,
