Server on LAN

Hi,
First of all I'd like to admit I know nothing about networking.  I want to create a server  accessible by the computers on the LAN in my house.  Ive got a computer running Windows 98 SE that i just reformatted and installed apache on, but I have no idea what to do from here, could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

What kind of a server?  File Server?  Web Server?  You said you installed apache - Apache is a web server.  If you want to run websites for the house, then you use apache.  If you want to share files, then you don't need Apache.  To share files with a Win98 machine, you have to make sure you have "File and Print Services" is installed.  Then you should be able to share out any folder on the Win98 machine.  With File and Print Services installed, you just right click the folder you want to share and there should be an option to share it.  Give it a name and set the security on it - typically Read only (no one can change or delete files - or add them), or Full Control - Anyone from any computer can change, delete, or add files.
