HP DesignJet 500 Excel Printing Issue
We are currently using a HP DesignJet 500PS42+HPGL2 and are trying to print an excel spreadsheet. The issue that we are having is that the entire document isn't being printed. The background grid is always complete, but the amount of text that is printed vertically is never the same and never complete. One printout will have 10 lines of text and the next will have 4. Print it again and you may get 15, but never the full spreadsheet. Updated the driver to version 5.35 which is the latest one and still nothing.
What is your Operating System and which version of Office? Might want to check WindowsUpdate for the Operating System and this for Office and Excel http://www.officeupdate.com Does print preview let you modify the settings for the printer; such as margins, or other printer settings? Or does print preview look OK, but the output doesn't?

OS win2k
Office 2k no updates
The preview is fine and shows all the data. The adjust print settiings screen (margins and such) also hbas a print prteview and it is fine as well. Uninstalled the printer already and reinstalled the printer with the latest drivers. When the excel is printed on a LJ2300 it prints out fine which leads me to believe that it is a printer configuration issue.

Can you test it on another system?
Yep; sure agree it is a printer settings issue. When you uninstalled the printer initially, assume you uninstalled all related software and old drivers, prior to reinstalling with all updates. Also, at least check out http://www.officeupdate.com to see what patches/fixes may apply to your version; sure can't hurt. Also WindowsUpdate for the OS. So many issues out there and updates typically are good things.

Tested it on an XP Pro SP2 machine with Office 2000 fully updated and had the same results. The Window 2000 machine is fully updated as well and still got an incomplete printout.
Here comes a potentially silly question, but often overlooked.... within Excel are the print parameters set for the full spreadsheet?

Yup, set the print area to include the whole chart. The background prints out fine including shading and coloring, it's just the actual text that it is seemingly printing at random.

you can try an Office repair

Turned of the colors (the user was using a conditional filter) but the result was the same. Tried the office repair and still no dice.
Are you talking about 1 spreadsheet, or do they all show this issue?
ASKER
Just one spreadsheet
No luck in trying to configure the printer/output to a smaller percentage in case it's some strange margin or printer-definition restriction?
I would copy this spreadsheet over into a new one, and try again

Hey guys, turns out the fix has to do with a conflict between the print driver and excel's autofilter as seen on the following web page.
