I've used programs such as yellowpages grabber ( to successfullly copy items from However, it is very tedious. I've also used Perl but its too cumbersome for me.

Anyone know of a database of yellowpages from cities around the country that could be purchased or downloaded?? TIA

You can buy such databases but because they have real commercial value even a small subset costs a lot of money. For example infoUSA has 14 million verified US businesses but lets say you wanted just the 'big' businesses in every state. That gives you around 200,000 companies and they will charge around $30k for the data. It will of course be as accurate as you can get and will include all the usual items plus extras such as website address, employee size, sales volume, credit rating score, etc etc.

The main point is that what you are asking for is extremely valuable (when it is reasonably accurate) and therefore only comes with a big price ticket.

dammit, yeah that's what I was afraid of. Manually scraping is looking like a more practical error-proned and tedious as it is. Yellowpagesgrabber is alright, I just wish ti had scripting functionality to automate the process better..
