How do i replace an ISDN pci card

I am going to see someone tomorrow to replace their faulty ISDN pci card for a new one.  However the internet connection will be callobrated for the existing one and when I have changed modems before sometimes its been awkward to select the new installed one.

Is it best to uninstall then remove the old one then put the new one in and install then it should be ok? or can I keep the existing connect settings and just sellect the new isdn modem?

Im not sure which Operating system is on the system either 98/2k/xp - my guess is 98 or xp though possibly xp

record the old settings first; then uninstall the old ones before putting in the new one.
Normally, you can keep the old settings and just select the new modem

well when I got there the isdn adapter was fine, but his settings e.g. username / password had disappeared and there were 4 modem devices and something like hkmr was sellected, but i pulled the menu down and sellected ISDN adapter01 and it worked, thanks for your feedback, I was just concerned because sometimes you can install a new modem and it still tries to use the old one
