restarting tomcat after modifying struts-onfig.xml file

hi!

I was wondering is there any way that prevents restarting tomcat after modifying struts-onfig.xml file? So I can keep working on w/o restarting tomcat?

thanks,

no, you cannot do that. becoz struts-onfig.xml file is parsed and loaded in the init method of the ActionServlet of the Struts Framework.
But you sure can stop your application using Tomcat Manager webapp and when u restart your application it will pick up the new struts-onfig.xml file.

The following links will give you all the info for what i told in brief above

http://struts.apache.org/api/index.html

http://struts.apache.org/download.cgi

In your TOMCAT_HOME/conf/server.xml you can set reloadable="false" so that tomcat will not check files for changes and reload when it detects them. Is that what your after?
