PDF Tools

Hi,

does anyone know of a GOOD pdf creating component which does NOT rely on a printer driver to work?
The one we are using will only operate async (cos it's a printer component!) and takes up to 11 seconds for a document with a background image.

I use ActivePDF toolkit (http://www.activepdf.com) and it works great. Although it's not the cheapest on the planet it's very reliable and effective, It allows you to creat and manipulate PDF's.

We use it to populate Tax returns and save as PDF's.

ActivePDF DocConverter looks like it will do what we want, but it seems to run as a printer in the same way as our current converting tool, which iwill be too slow for our needs as it can only work with one document at a time on the same PC/server.
What we need is something encapsulating the same functionality which will run in synchronous processes.

However, you can buy additional threads for activePDF to make it process multiple docs at one time.  We use activePDF in our enterprise to produce electronic forms, with a four thread license, so each server produces four documents at once, instead of just once.

That may be one way of speeding things up for you as well.

I have heard from many experts about this being a very good control.
