You have to change the display driver.

Run SETUP.EXE and replace the display driver with a standard VGA driver, or a proper driver obtained from manufacturer of your graphic card.

    I've just checked.

Run SETUP.EXE from windows directory and change "Display:" field to "VGA". This will give you 640x480 standard display mode, and it will let to run windows with any graphic card. Windows 3.1 does not have "Safe mode" so you have to switch the display driver with DOS interface.

If you want better resolution, you will have to obtain a proper driver.

Thanks, I forgot about that.  I have not worked on 3.x in so many years.
