mysql and vb.net

I know this question has been answered here, but I can't figure out how to use my points to see the answer.   I guess I will have to ask to get an answer.  I want to access a mySQL database called "lessons" from a vb.net program.  I can't figure out what references I need to add, or components or whatever to make any of the mySQL commands (ex:mySQLConnection, or mySQLCommand, etc) mean anything to VB. I'm a complete novice as far as DB programming is concerned.  Can someone help me get started.
thanks,

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
