Blue screen crash ONLY when receiving new mail in Outlook 2002

I get a blue screen crash everytime Outlook 2002 starts receiving new mail in the Inbox.  The first several new messages show up and then it crashes.  There have been no crashes at any other time.  Outlook Express works fine but I want to use Outlook 2002.  What should I do?

I'm running Windows XP on a 1.5 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP processor with 256 megs of memory.  The BIOS is Phoenix LTD 6.00 PG (7/26/2004).

Does your machine crash only using Outlook ?

Is your outlook fully updated ?

Does your computer restart or can you see the error message on the blue screen ?

Have you tried to reinstall outlook to see if that would help ?

Yes, it only crashes using Outlook.

Outlook is fully updated.

The blue screen stays up long enough to read before restarting but the error messages seem to change.

I have not reinstalled outlook...I will do that.

Does it happen everytime you work on Outlook ?

Try doing this
Right-click "my computer"go to properties
go to advanced
go to settings under "startup and recovery"and uncheck "automatically restart"
Now try opening and check to see if the computer gives any error

see if you can get the entire error message. Post the message here

Now I am finding that it happens nearly everytime I work on Outlook, as well as most times I work on Word.  All non-Office applications appear to run fine and not cause this crash.

The blue screen error at the top was IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL and the details of the Stop (at the bottom) were:

0x0000000A (0x0000004, 0x0000002, 804E6D3F)

Have you reinstalled office and checked ?

XP is fully updated (it's set for auto-update but I just checked manually, as well).

I just reinstalled office and am testing.  Outlook appears to be working but I have no new mail and it usually crashes while receiving new mail.  I will keep checking.

Everything appears to be running very slow.

SO does word crash when you use it as a default email editor or even if you just open word alone, it crashes ?

davidmc22Author Commented:
No, I don't have it set as the default email editor.  It is crashing just when working in word alone.

try couple of these

a) open word and make sure it has got the latest updates

b) go to help menu and do a detect and repair

c) close word, search for normal.dot file in your computer and rename it to normal_old.dot
restart your computer and check how it goes

Well, so far so good as far as crashes go.

But when I ran the Detect and Repair in Word it reset all of the Office applications and all of my Outlook mail and mailboxes seem to be lost.  Anywhere I might look to get that stuff back?

davidmc22Author Commented:
Well, I opened outlook and none of it is there.

were u saving outlook data in personal folders or do you have exchange account and storing in mailbox..

can you delete and recreate your exchange account and see you would get it back

I got the old personal folder back.  Outlook started a new personal folder upon launch after the Detect and Repair.  I was able to get it to switch back to the old one.

I will keep working with word and outlook to see if they still crash.
