Does anyone have any idea or a script already made that would allow me to force outlook to close before a backup is run? My backup software allows me to run a pre and post backup script and I thought I could add this so it forces the outlook running to close and then reopen when the backup is done..????

sorry i forgot to ask but if  u have XP then use TSKILL.EXE ...XP comes with this utility loaded....just go to command line and type tskill /? and u will see all the switches.....

so create a .bat file and put this simple command
tskill outlook   save it lets say as abc.bat  and leave it in the root of c drive
then in ur backup program where u are allowed to run scripts call the file   c:\abc.bat
this will shut down completly the outlook proccess......
