I need my web server (apache on linux) to install a device driver on the client machine (IE & windows)if the client does not have it installed.

Any clue, starting point?

you could use a signed applet to handle the install.
what needs to be run to install the driver?

it could be a .exe file.

any hints/links to build the applet.

    Thanks a lot

    Accepted Solution

all it would need to do is use Runtime.exec() to run the executable.

    Assisted Solution

Why don't you just provide a link to this .exe file on your web server and then users can download and install it without the need of applet. Only drawnback I can think of is that it will have to be reinstalled even if it is already installed.
