Toshiba satellite A75-S206 freeze's/lockup's

A friend and I got this laptop's together.  He changed the OS to XP pro spanish version, I stayed with the original english XP home.  He uses his computer heavily while mine is used for a few hours at night.

The issue.
My friends computer started to present random lookups and freezing with no aparent reason, so he called Toshiba service, in Mexico, and they told him it was a known problem and that they will replace the motherboard and the hard disk.

I did ask them by e-mail and their response was that there was'nt an official Toshiba press release.

I have found several threads in different forums talking about this issue.
Also I've found about a replacement program dealing with memory but this model isn't in the affected models list.

Have any one heard about a major problem this Laptop models?

Just to be shure.

xema,
I have seen several posts stating that once the BIOS for that model was updated they no longer had the intermittent freezing issues. But if they are willing to replace the parts and admit to an issue, I would send it back to Toshiba!

Thanks; as you arethe only one that answered and your answer is almost the same I did get from Mexico's Toshiba support I'll award you the points.

The answer By Toshiba was that it may be BIOS or the Motehrboard, that you need to take the Laptop to service to be tested.

One problem is that in order to flash the BIOS you need a Flopy Disk Drive, this machine doesn't have one so you need to download it on another computer, create the Floppy and burn it on a bootable CD.

I've haven't done it yet
