WAV Playback - Jukebox Lingo

I want to distribute some tracks i have recently made within a director presentation, but i want full playback controls... kinda like in windows media player... so stop, start, fforward, rewind, begining, end, volume, current position bar... i also want to be able to use my own graphics for the buttons... volume & position bars can be a standard thing.

Also is wav the best format to have my sound in... i have a feeling this is a windows file type, people i know own macs, just i havent had the chance to test it out...

Any help would be greatfully accepted!!

There are a number of controllers at www.mediamacros.com including my all in one video controller.  The easiest way to do this with audio is to play it via a Quicktime sprite.  If you have to do it without Quicktime you can use currentTime, play, stop, etc to contol the audio and rateshift to speed it up for FF, but it takes much mroe code.

There is an example of it here..

(In the zip file)

Just load the wav into the QT member.

ah brilliant - i'm almost there... just when i try it on another computer it wants the files referenced...

is there a way to include the files within the director file... or make them look in the same directory as the exe as it will be distributed on cds... but i'd prefer the first method if possible?

Place them in the same folder as the exe or maintain the same relative structure and it shoudl work.

i've done both of the suggestions above... but it doesnt work... the file is referenced in director as:

I:\Documents and Settings\UKKrew\Desktop\MMTN - Morning Reporting.mov

when i delete the: I:\Documents and Settings\UKKrew\Desktop\

it just replaces its self?

Any ideas?

No, what I mean is that if you work with it in a folder relative to teh movie, Director will remember this on the CD> :)

ok, i've got that bit working now... but when i gave it to a few people to play with they have all found the same bug... if you play around with the slider too much, the sound will stop playing... the status bar will continue to move, but it is silent until you re-load the application :S

Any ideas?

This may be a Quicktime bug.  What version of hte player are you using?  You can also use other players like MPEG Advance Xtra, etc to play audio.  If that is not an option I can help you write an audio controller script but it is a bit more complex.

i'm using 6.5 pro - i thought it would be best to use .mov files for the cross platform compatabilities?

WAV will play in QT on both platforms.  That may give better results.  I have seen the problem you indicate on some machines but so far only with mov files.

Then the QT shell is the source of the problem. I woudl suggest MPEG Advance from xtras.tabuleiro.com or else you will need to write a sound controller.  It takes a fair ammount of lingo but I can help you if you get stuck.  Look at the setPLayList, queue, etc commands for ideas on play, pause, resume (by recording currentTime), etc. Fast foward will be done by changing the rateshift property.
