Built in HDD Password = - Satelite Pro Toshiba 6100

Hi, I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question but my computer Toshiba Laptop Satelite Pro - 6100 has a problem. When I turn it on the hard disk drive makes a funny noise like it is working too hard maybe and then a black screen with white type in the top left hand  corner says Built in HDD password: and that is it!

I can't  get it to go any farther. Is my hard drive ruined? I just got the  computer a year ago (its a laptop) and I already lost my hard  drive once. Any suggestions. I'm desperate for answers

Thank you

most hdd passwords are saved in the bios and not actually on the drive you may need to contact toshiba to get a master password to reset it, on desktops you would have a jumper to clear passwords on most laptops they just a have a master password they use then just disable it in bios after using it.
