POP Service Failing on Exhcange 2003 Server

I'm having a weird issue with exchange 2003.  I am moving mail boxes over from an exchange 2000 server to a new exchange 2003 server running on windows server 2003. The install and every else has gone smoothly so far.  However, The pop service failed last nite either before - during - or after I moved about 40 mailboxes.  

Now when I try to start the service again I get this error message:

 Received error while processing address space. Examine the connector with this address space and make sure it is legal. If unsure, delete it and recreate via UI. This should ensure it is correct.
Address Space = (X500:/o=/ou=*) Hr = c0040385

This connector has stayed the same for about 2.5 years and never caused a problem.

any ideas as to how I might get around this?

Well, I'm gonna throw a big guess out there, cause I can't find *anything* about this error.

As a guess, could it be that the Exchange 2000 server has the x500 connector installed, but the 2003 server doesn't?  If so, maybe the 2003 server isn't happy with the fact that the mailboxes have an address that it can't send or receive for.

If you can, either move the mailboxes back, or, remove the x500 address on each mailbox.
